UM CBTm Team for Youth 2025-01-14 | The University of Manitoba is offering the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) program free of charge to Youth in Manitoba. This program is created specifically for youth and aims to teach them practical ways to boost their mental well-being. The course is online (over zoom) Feb. 20 to March 20, 2025 from 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Sessions are approximately 90 minutes long, once a week for 5 weeks. ACC Nursing Program 2025-01-14 | Assiniboine Community College will be offering their Practical Nursing and CHCA programs in Steinbach starting in September 2025. In preparation for the upcoming intake they are offering an in-person information session at our school, in the theatre, on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. Assiniboine Community College highly recommends attending this session if you are interested in applying for either program. Hockey Update Jan. 13 2025-01-14 | The SRSS Sabres Hockey team (10-4-2) travelled to Oakbank to take on the Springfield Sabres (9-8-2) on Monday afternoon. After a scoreless first two periods, Springfield opened the scoring with a shorthanded breakaway. SRSS had a number of quality chances but could not beat the stingy Springfield netminder. Springfield added a second breakaway goal with a minute and a half left as well as an empty-netter for insurance. Final score: Springfield 3 SRSS 0. The next Sabres Hockey action will take place on Friday, January 17 at the Cactus Cup in Gilbert, Arizona. Keep your stick on the ice! |
Caf has Debit 2025-01-14 | Good news, the cafeteria now has debit. The cafeteria will feature Poutine this Thursday and will feature Main Meal and Fast Food items. Don't forget to check online for the daily menu. |

Hockey Update Jan. 10 2025-01-13 | The SRSS Sabres Hockey team (10-3-2) hosted the Sturgeon Heights Huskies (9-6-1) on Friday afternoon in Steinbach. The Huskies opened the scoring with a breakaway goal in the early stages of the first period. Ryder Chabot answered for the Sabres with a beautiful individual effort to tie it 1-1 at the end of the first period. In the second frame, Chabot potted his second of the game as he spun and fired a puck five-hole through a screen. The Huskies found the equalizer with a pass to the back door but Drew Heide got the lead back for the Sabres by smashing home a rebound on the powerplay at the end of the second period. The Huskies tied the game midway through the third period and added the go-ahead goal just four minutes later. The Sabres pushed back but could not make it 4-4. Final score: Sturgeon Heights 4 SRSS 3. The next Sabres action takes place on Monday, January 13 as they head to Oakbank to take on the Springfield Sabres at 3:30 PM. Keep your stick on the ice! |

Biology Lab Experience 2025-01-06 | Stem Cell Lab Research Experience Are you a current or former BIO40S student who has a curiosity about research in life and health sciences? Does learning some basic laboratory techniques appeal to you? Does the topic of stem cells in health and disease pique your interest? Do you work well in a team – in groups of about 4-5 students? Students from the SRSS have been invited to the YouthBiolab at the St. Boniface Research Centre in Winnipeg for a rich immersive experience. Applications to participate are due by FRIDAY January 17!
