| Hockey Update 2/12 2026-02-13 | The SRSS Sabres visited the Shaftesbury Titans for Game 2 of their best-of-3 preliminary round series on Thursday afternoon in Winnipeg. The Sabres meant business from the get-go as Peyton Froese opened the scoring just over a minute into the game with a nicely placed shot on the rush. The Sabres drew a PP and it was Kyler Verestiuk finding twine as his shot fooled the Titans' netminder a minute and a half later. Jager Bueckert made it 3-0 halfway through the opening frame. The Sabres continued their push into the second period as Judah Thiessen outwaited a sliding defender on a 2-on-1, hitting Nixon Duerksen on the tape for a beautiful top-shelf finish past the glovehand. With just under a minute to play in the second, Jager Bueckert marched into the slot for a quick release and then slammed home the rebound for his second of the game to make it 5-0 heading into the third. Jett Bueckert made it 6-0 on a wrap-around with 15:18 remaining in the contest. The Titans got on the board with a powerplay marker a couple of minutes later. Final score: SRSS 6 Shaftesbury 1. Kash Amor turned aside 19 of the 20 shots he faced, including a breakaway stop. The Sabres will take on the CJS Olympiens next week in the 4v5 quarterfinal matchup, with Game 1 set to take place at the Southeast Event Centre on Wednesday, February 18 at 4:00 PM. Keep your stick on the ice! |
