| Hockey Update 1/7 2026-01-08 | The SRSS Sabres (9-3) hit the road to Winnipeg to take on the Vincent Massey Trojans (13-1-2) on Wednesday afternoon at the Max Bell Centre. The Trojans struck first with a powerplay goal on a whiffed-on one-timer that found its way in through traffic. The Sabres responded as Jager Bueckert turned on the jets and got in alone, slammed on the brakes, and tucked the biscuit in the basket as the goaltender slid sideways. The Sabres took the lead in the second frame as Tristan Emerson ripped a puck through traffic and Bueckert rifled home his second of the game past the trapper of the screened Trojans' netminder. The Sabres buckled in for a heavy, physical third frame in which the Trojans poured on the pressure. Third-year netminder Kash Amor was a shining star, standing on his head to extinguish the opposing attack. The Sabres' PP clicked early in the third period on a 5-on-3 as Terran Perreault fed a royal road pass to Jager Bueckert, who one-timed his hat trick top cheddar for some insurance. Final score: SRSS 3 Vincent Massey 1. Kash Amor made 34 saves. The next Sabres Hockey action goes this Friday as the Sabres head back to Winnipeg to take on the Shaftesbury Titans. Keep your stick on the ice! |

| Minecraft and Brawlhalla 2026-01-07 | We have two major esport titles coming up that we will be competing in: Minecraft: SRSS was provincial champions in the MSEA Minecraft Build Challenge last year and we are hoping to defend that title! Using Minecraft education edition, teams of up to 5 students will be given a theme on February first and have one month to complete their build. Final builds will be presented to a panel of judges to determine the champion. Brawlhalla: the MSEA runs Brawlhalla competions in a 2v2 format, so we are looking for partners of players who are interested in competing. If you are a solid Brawlhalla player but don't have a partner in mind, that's okay to! Others might be in the same boat, so we can pair you up. The Brawlhalla season will be starting in mid-February. If you are interested in competing in either of these titles, further information will be provided at the next esports club meeting. That is Thursday, January 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 in Bear 8 (Minecraft) and Owl 7 (Brawlhalla). |
