| Hockey Update 1/16 2026-01-19 | The SRSS Sabres (12-4) hit the road to Winnipeg to take on the CJS Olympiens (9-4-3) on Friday afternoon at the Dakota Community Centre. The Olympiens struck first on the second shift of the game as a forward fired his slot shot through the seven-hole to take an early lead. The Sabres took some time to shake off the bus legs but found their game halfway through the opening frame, highlighted by Kyler Verestiuk finding Rhys Guenther on the back door for the equalizer and his fourth of the season. The Sabres weren't done there, as they took control of the game in the second period. Jager Bueckert made a defenceman look silly before going forehand, backhand on the netminder to make it 2-1. Bueckert was sprung yet again later in the second frame and this time sizzled a shot past the glove side to grow the lead, scoring his ninth of the campaign. The Sabres weathered the CJS attack in the final period, thanks to some more big stops by Kash Amor, including a breakaway against one of the top goal scorers in the WHSHL. Oliver Campbell found Nixon Duerksen with a low-to-high pass in the late stages of the game to add some extra insurance as he chipped it through the goaltender. Final score: SRSS 4 CJS 1. Kash Amor made 26 saves, earning his eighth win of the season. The Sabres host CJS in a rematch on Wednesday, January 21 at 4:00 PM at the Southeast Event Centre. Keep your stick on the ice! |

| Varsity Girls Basketball 2026-01-15 | Wednesday night our Varsity girls basketball team tipped off against the Westgate Wings for their home opener in Winnipeg. We came out strong and continued to contest every quarter, conquering Westgate 76 - 28. Leading scores go to Ayen Apollo-Mansaray with 20 points, Katelyn Lysak with 15 points and Kyleen Garcia with 13 points. Go Sabres! |
