| Rocket League Champions! 2025-12-01 | This weekend at Kelvin High School, our Rocket League Gold team claimed the the title of AA Division Provincial Champions and brought home a banner! Wyatt M, Jayden M, Logan W, and sub Orrin H worked together very well throughout the day. After losing our first match of the day, the team locked in and swept through their remaining matches in the day with 2:0 wins, clinching a spot in the finals. Solid aerial maneuvers, effective circuits, boost management, and communication were essential to their success. They even won their final best of 5 match against the Selkirk Royals with a 3:0 sweep! |
| Brandon Hockey Tourney 2025-12-01 | The Sabres Hockey team travelled to The Wheat City over the weekend to take part in the 2025 Victoria Inn Brandon High School Hockey tournament. The 2025 tournament featured 23 teams, including each of the first-place teams from the three high school hockey leagues in Manitoba. The Sabres began their pool play on Friday morning with a tough test against the Dryden Eagles. Oli Campbell (2), Nixon Duerksen and Rhys Guenther did the goal scoring while Kash Amor made 25 saves en route to a 4-3 victory. Pool play concluded on Friday evening with a matchup against the Neepawa Farmers. Kyler Verestiuk, Jett Bueckert, Daniel Schroeder, Terran Perreault and Ty Brewster each found the back of the net and Vander Fehr stopped 16 of 17 in a 5-1 win. Saturday morning marked the beginning of the A-side playoff bracket as the Sabres took on the feisty Fort Frances Muskies. The Sabres' balanced attack went back to work as Daniel Schroeder, Jager Bueckert, Oli Campbell and Peyton Froese tickled the twine. Kash Amor was yet again solid, making saves on 14 of the 15 shots he faced in the 4-1 win. A date was then set with the Morden Thunder in the A-side semifinal on Saturday evening. The two teams combined for a defensive masterpiece in which Daniel Schroeder sniped the game-winner past the glove-hand and the Sabres killed off a five-minute major at the end of the second frame. Vander Fehr and Kash Amor combined to make 31 saves in a 1-0 shutout, sending the Sabres to the gold medal game on Sunday morning. The gold medal game was a Sabres vs. Sabres matchup for the second tournament in a row, however, this time it was the sword-wielding foes from Sanford on the other bench. The Steinbach Sabres were men on a mission for 50 minutes, creating scoring chance after scoring chance en route to a decisive 5-0 win. Kash Amor made 11 saves to maintain his shutout streak while Jett Bueckert (2), Jager Bueckert, Judah Thiessen and Kyler Verestiuk each put the biscuit in the basket. The next Sabres hockey action will take place at 4:00 PM at the Southeast Event Centre this Wednesday, December 3 as the Sabres (8-3) host the Sturgeon Heights Huskies (10-1-1) in a matchup you won't want to miss! Keep your stick on the ice! |
