House of Sabres
The House of Sabres is the school-run convenience store run by and for the students of the SRSS. While it provides the people in our building a place to track down snacks and beverages without leaving the building, it also provides our Business Ed students with an authentic real-world experience to act as retail workers. Beginning in Grade 10 with Retailing and working up through to Grade 12 Management, students have an opportunity to deal with customers, inventory and cash in a fast-paced environment (especially during breaks in class).
We also are proud to stock Sabres Pride Wear in the store, including apparel that we can custom design in-house with our new T-Shirt making equipment. We also offer SRSS-themed giftware and are always open to new ideas of items to stock. So swing by the store, pick up a slushie and some Livewires, and maybe grab some Sabres Gear from the House of Sabres: Look Sharp, Be Sharp.
The SRSS Preschool is a dynamic learning community where preschool-age children and high school students learn alongside one another. The preschool provides students enrolled in Family Studies courses with a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of child development while enhancing the growth and development of preschool students.
Facilitated by the Family Studies Teacher and the Preschool Early Childhood Educator, the program emphasizes healthy communication and the establishment of positive, nurturing relationships between the preschoolers and their high school friends. Family Studies students assist with the physical, social/emotional, and intellectual development of preschoolers through the creation and development of interactive, engaging activities for them.
