Best Buddies

Best Buddies builds friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), offering social mentoring while improving the quality of life and level of inclusion for a population that is often isolated and excluded. Throughout their participation, people with an IDD form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences and activities that many other individuals take for granted.

Students are welcome to play on school hardware or bring their own portable game systems to play. Students interested in competing should watch announcements for recruitment opportunities. Ethics Bowl

Ethics Bowl is a team-based activity where students discuss real-world ethical dilemmas in a collaborative and competitive format. Participants develop critical thinking, communication, and reasoning skills while exploring questions about society, technology, and justice. Weekly practices begin in the fall and culminate with the Manitoba High School Ethics Bowl in February. Dates and times for the meetup may vary depending on availability. Fitness Club

Fitness club is a great place to start or continue your fitness journey! Join us Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:15 in the Mezz where you can workout with other motivated students. This is a free form environment that allows you to follow your own workout plan and exercise at your own pace. ***New for 2025/2026 we will start the school year with a free trial period but following that, students will be required to pay a one-time sign-up fee to be permitted to attend. Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA)

K-Pop Club

The K-Pop Club is for anyone interested in Korean pop music and the culture that surrounds it. The goal is to create a welcoming space where fans can share their enthusiasm, discover new artists, and learn more about contemporary Korean music, dance, and entertainment. The club will focus on the music (watching new music video releases, listen and share their favorite tracks). Members will also practice the choreography from popular songs and explore the Korean culture.

Reach for the Top

Do people seek you out to answer obscure questions? Do you annoy your teacher because you seemingly know everything? Put that knowledge to good use and join the SRSS Reach for the Top team! Reach for the Top is an inter-school trivia competition that pits one high school against another in a fast-paced, question-answer, buzzer-filled frenzy. We are looking for students in grades nine through twelve who have in-depth knowledge of the following topics: math, literature, science, history, geography, social studies, philosophy, music, drama, spelling, or pop culture. If you are interested, see Mr. Rohne in Bison 7 or Mr. Unger in Crocus 5 and sign up for our Google Classroom (potdwe5). Practices start on Tuesdays in early November from 4:00-5:00 pm. Student Volunteers at Personal Care Homes

Starting in October (watch announcements!), you can attend an information meeting to learn about the volunteer opportunities at various Personal Care Homes in Steinbach: Bethesda Place, Rest Haven, Fernwood Place, Linden Place, and Silver Lining Care. This is a great opportunity to find out if you want to pursue a career in health care. Other students simply want to make the world a better place or add employable skills to their resume.
