The last 4 days SRSS had 19 teams with 55 athletes compete in the Manitoba High School Beach Volleyball Championships.

On Wednesday our JV teams competed in pool play. 11 of the 14 JV teams placed in the top half of their pool advancing to the championship bracket. 3 teams advanced to the consolation bracket.

Thursday was very rainy, cold and windy, but teams persisted in the elements to compete. While many teams were knocked out in the pre-quarters or quarters of playoffs, quite a few Sabre teams made it into the top 4 of their playoff bracket. There were even 2 all Sabres JV finals! Top finishes included:
1st in JV boys 3’s division championship bracket – Hunter Koop, Hayden Reed, Jackson Schroeder and Mason Bergen
2nd in JV boys 3’s division championship bracket – Leif Reimer, Robert Banman and Elijah Thiessen
4th in JV girls 3’s division championship bracket – Elenoa Kaukirewa, Jadyn Plett, Olivia Unrau and Madelyn Hiebert
1st in JV girls 3’s division consolation bracket – Amy Johnson, Chloe Thiessen, and Jaime Rempel
2nd in JV girls 3’s division consolation bracket – Corbyn Bourrier, Jordis Chabot and Layla Cudney
On Friday our varsity teams competed in pool play. After battling the wind, all 5 Sabres varsity teams finished in the top half of their pool, advancing to the championship bracket.

On Saturday the varsity teams battled it out in the sand for their playoff matches. In the end there was one Sabres team that made it to the finals. Sienna Driedger and Taleesa Minnaar competed against CJS in the championship game of the varsity girls 2’s division, but ultimately succumbed to their opponents, earning them 2nd overall.
